Established in 1973 with a small distillation plant in Badaun (U.P., India), now the heart of mint growing area, the Group’s sustained growth has come as a result of technological advances as well as dedication to work.
Our status as PIONEERS in North India has long been established when we initiated the mint revolution in and around Badaun and were successful in commercializing many new aroma crops like India Basil, Spearmint and Russian Mint.
Even today, are field workers help growers of aromatic crops to select best agricultural practices. Timely advice on maturity and harvesting mechanism, help farmers to produce best quality oils with optimum yields. Our close relationship with growers is one factor, we are ahead in selecting best raw materials.

SomVarshney Group is a family controlled business, which until now was headed by Late Shiam C. Varshney, a qualified engineer cum scientist cum perfumer and one of the experts on distillation technology in India. Shri Shiam C. Varshney left for his heavenly abode on 11th November, 2016.
The group is now managed by Sanjay Varshney, a qualified Chemical Engineer and Raja Varshney, a Commerce graduate.
The Group employs more than 100 persons including scientists & perfumers and has invested more than Three Hundred Million Rupees in essential oils alone.
We have over 40 years of experience in distillation, processing and developing highest quality natural/rectified Essential Oils, isolates and value added aroma molecules.
1973 – 84: Cultivation and distillation of natural essential oils of Peppermints, Spearmint, Basil, Jamrosa and others at Badaun – the hometown of aromatic crops.
1984 – 88: Development of natural linalool, linalyl acetate, geraniol, m-chavicol and value added anethol from Indian Basil oil at Noida factory.
1992 : Commissioning of fractional distillation unit at Badaun having capacity of 2000 M-tonne per annum.
1996 : Commissioning of another processing unit at Sahibabad (near Delhi) having capacity of 1500 M-tonne per annum adopting state-of-the-art technology and a full-fledged R&D unit.
2000 : Expansion of Sahibabad factory adding another capacity of 1500 M-tonne per annum.
